Burgfreiheit in Heidelberg

We came when it was supposed to be closed and still got a beer. We could drink that in peace. The service was very friendly and the view was nice too.

The food is always delicious there and the staff is always very friendly I can only recommend it Keep it up -:)

We were really lucky when I read the comments here. We were there on Sundays and the beautiful beer garden was well filled. The service was friendly and we got our drinks quickly. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Two of us had ordered Spaghetti Frutti di Mare. The sauce was very hot even though it wasn't on the menu. Since I like to eat spicy, it was no problem for me and it was super delicious, including the seafood in the dish. It was too spicy for our friend and was immediately given a new portion without a murmur. Great hosts. All 4 were very satisfied with their food and we had a great time.

Luckily we only had a drink here, we should have planned over 2 hours for dinner. 20 minutes until we were served and only because I asked. Another 20 minutes until the drinks came even though only 4 tables were occupied. The reviews read here confirm our impression.

The mask requirement is not taken seriously by the staff. The noses are free. At best, the kitchen is of a normal standard, no upscale dishes as otherwise claimed.

I was tempted to ask the waitress if I could bring her anything. After a waiting time of thirty minutes, the ordered latte macchiato finally came. It took another thirty minutes to bring the apple strudel. There were hardly any guests and therefore incomprehensible why the whole thing took so long. The waitress was unfriendly and I couldn't get rid of the feeling that she would have liked it better if we hadn't come.

Very slow service, food ok and view good - but not enough

French fries 3.80. Far too few chips for the price. Although ordered, Majo was only available on request. Hygiene masks are only worn under the chin. Definitely not worth a visit, even when hunger is high.

After long way down the hill we found this random place close to the castle and decided to stop by for a beer. In general I would say that this place and all the service did not change much from 39 years or so and I the whole impression is rather negative. + - nice location for having a beer - - young waitress not able to undarstand a word in english (in such a touristic place - shame!) and more interested in her phone than in guests - older waitress with a hairstyle and makeup like from the horror movie - while people are free to look as they want to, in the case of waitress it was just looking unprofessional - horrible service! We had to actually search for someone to place the order and pay ourselves, otherwise noone was interested - the toilet just not hygienic - the whole structure rather old, poor, boxes with old bottles or some old decorations on the way to the toilet - I probably wouldn't have courage to eat sth in this place - you have to pay in cash

Fantastic location right on the romantic Heidelberg Castle. Has 3 gastronomic areas. Real Biergarren with wooden tables and 2 large trees in the garden. German-Italian cuisine. Perfect for large numbers of guests. The garden has space for about 150 people. Weekends often find Celebrate instead of weddings, birthdays, company parties. In winter, the Burgfreiheit is only open for groups, Christmas parties and New Year's Eve. The restaurant offers a buffet for 120 people. In the ground floor Burgkelker parties can be celebrated or fed with up to 60 people. The boss is a Greek with German descent. Very friendly and works with himself.

After our wedding in the castle chapel, we and our guests went for a champagne reception to the Burgfreiheit. The Burgfreiheit team awaited us in the wine cellar. The atmosphere was very relaxed and hospitable. The process from the first meeting to the farewell after the champagne reception was very hospitable and uncomplicated. We were very happy with everything. The hostess was also open to our wishes. We had a great party. The castle freedom next to the castle is beautifully situated.

Quite barren offer, no fries for the kids because the fryer is broken, etc. The taste was rather wrong and priced an absolute no go. A few meters away is the canteen on the castle grounds and that is far cheaper and it tastes good.

The tables were cleaned immaculately and the chairs were particularly comfortable. It is always fine and we had a great afternoon there. Yes, ... perfect to still be able to eat a dessert afterwards. Not only the nice staff was the absolute bestseller during my visit, but also the good flair.

Everything was fine here! Can not join the predecessors here! The beer garden is beautiful! Food and service is great !!! We always like to come over.

€ 3.10 for a glass of tap water although plenty of other drinks were consumed? phuuu there but you have to have it already necessary ... come to dirty glasses and disinterest from the side of the service.

Food is TK-Ware and quite expensive. Waiter is uninterested and has no interest in serving the customers professionally. But the beer garden is pretty designed. But I can rather advise to sit in one of the restaurants right in the castle. WCs are a hygienic disaster.

At 6.7 there coffee and cake made during our wedding day. A disaster. Had reserved extra. Tables reserved for us were guests. So that our wedding company sat at different tables. We were impossible as a bride and groom. Then even taken it in hand, that our guests sat at the table originally reserved for us. To be ignored. No cake, although it has been calculated later

Poor and very slow service (tables don't get served completly at the same time, not all that was ordered was delivered...), the food's quality is appauling, hygiene is lacking and the toilet could be the star in a horror movie. The deco is almost non existent, the menu offers very simple dishes and even these come out badly cooked. Don't waste your time and money here, seriously and the prices are expensive. If it was possible to give minus stars to the review, I would- one is one too much.

They do not accept payment with card, I think being a tourist place they should at least notify it so that people know well before. It turns out that it was written in a small print at the end of the menú but I insist that it should be on visible place. The worse thing is that the nearest cash machine is far away down the mountain.

The quality of the food left a lot to be desired. We dropped drinks because the glasses were dirty. Staff is helpless and unprofessional. All in all, everything is a bit loveless. For me there is no reason to come again!
